Russia has continued striking Ukraine with drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles throughout the weekend, targeting Odessa among other cities through the weekend, with explosions being reported in the city as of earlier this morning.
Earlier on Saturday, a 25-storey residential building in Odesa was struck and caught fire on its upper floors, while at least 35 people were injured across the Odesa region, including children.
The overnight barrage involved 129 attack drones, eight Kalibr cruise missiles, six Kh-59/69 missiles and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. At least nine people were killed in Russian attacks across Ukraine on Saturday, with deaths reported in Kramatorsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih and the Zhytomyr region. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had launched nearly 500 drones against Ukraine since early Saturday.
Russia also struck energy infrastructure in Mykolaiv on Saturday evening, leaving several districts of the city partially without electricity. Regional authorities said repair crews would begin restoring supplies as soon as the security situation allowed.
Russia aims for a repeat of last year’s devastating strikes on Ukraine which caused widespread blackouts in the country, while Kyiv is still scrambling for missile interceptors.
