The Dinghy National Championships will return to Ramla Bay from September 19 to 21 as part of the 2026 Yachting Malta Race Week programme.
Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and supported by Finductive, the National Championships and Ranking Regatta will be held under the auspices of the Malta Sailing Federation.
Competition will take place across several classes, including ILCA, Optimist and other one-design classes, with strong participation expected from all four local sailing clubs as well as a number of international competitors.
The return to Ramla Bay is expected to provide an attractive setting for both competitors and spectators, with the South Comino Channel offering several natural vantage points from which to follow the racing.
“The return to Ramla Bay brings with it a particularly fitting setting for the event,” Royal Malta Yacht Club Rear Commodore (Sailing) Adrian Gauci Borda said.
“The South Comino Channel offers excellent natural vantage points for spectators, and its location makes it well suited for families wishing to make a full weekend of it — combining racing action with the surroundings of one of Malta’s most appealing coastal areas.”
Finductive is supporting this year’s championships as the event continues to expand in both scale and reach.
Finductive CEO Alex Konewko said the company’s involvement reflected Malta’s strong links with the sea and the importance of the maritime and yachting sectors to the local business community.
“Supporting the Dinghy National Championships is therefore a natural fit for Finductive,” Konewko said.
“We are pleased to support the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the competitors taking part this September, while contributing to an event that continues to strengthen Malta’s sailing community.”
The championships form part of Yachting Malta Race Week, a multi-day programme organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and Yachting Malta featuring several sailing disciplines and classes.
The programme also includes Steering the Course, a World Sailing initiative supported by the International Olympic Committee and co-hosted with Vikings Sailing Club, which seeks to introduce more women to sailing.
Together with keelboat and dinghy racing, the various activities are aimed at providing opportunities for both experienced competitors and newcomers to the sport.
The Finductive National Dinghy Championships also form part of SportMalta’s Clubs Initiative for the European Week of Sport 2026.
The Royal Malta Yacht Club thanked Finductive for supporting the championships and Yachting Malta for its continued backing of the Race Week programme.
