Opposition Leader Alex Borg seems to have made a transformative political journey from being a politician who dismissed protests as useless to being the one who organises them. He was also present yesterday at the protest for Daphne Caruana Galizia, along with Adrian Delia and other PN deputies.
The Opposition Leader is evolving and maturing, but this is not necessarily a good thing in the sense that his process of political maturity, and the accumulation of knowledge should have taken place in his life before reaching such a very important and sensitive post in the country. On this matter, I am clearly a conservative in the sense that I don’t fancy the idea of having young people being in high positions of power: mainly due to lack of experience.
It takes a lot of time, energy, and dedication to learn something complex and mature enough to take on a responsibility of great power. We can acknowledge that Alex Borg is going through this process, but how much he will grow and whether he will evolve beyond being a politician who imitates Labour by promising populist measures remains to be seen.
He definitely needs support to achieve one of the most important tasks needed in the country today and that is to effect a change of government and re-introduce a sense of normalcy in the country.
