A 59-year-old British man died following a paragliding incident around a mile and a half off the coast of St Julian’s on Saturday afternoon.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the man and a 60-year-old British woman were paragliding when they fell into the sea, possibly due to strong winds.
The pair were rescued by a nearby boat and brought back to shore, where they were assisted by a medical team.
The man was certified dead at the scene, while the woman was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital. Her condition is not yet known.
Magistrate Renata Farrugia has launched an inquiry into the incident, while police investigations are ongoing.
