Malta today celebrated the 62nd anniversary of its independence in Valletta, with a Pontifical Mass at St John’s Co-Cathedral, followed by a military parade and other official ceremonies.
The President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono led the celebrations.
Minister for Accommodation and Lands Owen Bonnici stood in for the Prime Minister, who is in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, together with Foreign Minister Chris Fearne.
Opposition Leader Alex Borg was also present at the celebrations.
