Malta national team coach Emilio De Leo has named a provisional 29-player squad for the upcoming international window, which will see the national team play four matches as they begin their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign.
The squad includes 16-year-old Hibernians midfielder Jayden Roe, who receives his first senior national team call-up, while ฤฆamrun Spartans defender Ryan Camenzuli returns after missing the June international window through injury.
Malta will compete in League D, Group D1, alongside Andorra and Gibraltar, with their opening fixture scheduled away to Andorra on Thursday, 24 September.
De Leo’s side will then return home for three consecutive matches, beginning with an international friendly against Liechtenstein on Sunday, 27 September.
Malta will subsequently host Gibraltar on Thursday, 1 October, before facing Andorra again on Sunday, 4 October.
The opening encounter against Andorra will mark Malta’s first competitive international of the 2026/27 season.
During the previous international window in June, Malta suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Slovakia in Dunajskรก Streda before responding with a 2-0 victory over Azerbaijan in Hungary.
One of the main talking points in De Leo’s latest selection is the inclusion of Roe, who was born on 6 March 2010.
The Hibernians midfielder has represented Malta at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 level and has recently been involved with his club’s senior team.
Meanwhile, Camenzuli returns to the national team set-up after recovering from the injury which ruled him out of the June fixtures.
Birkirkara’s Aleandro Garzia is unavailable through injury, while Hibernians player Joseph Mbong will miss the opening Nations League encounter against Andorra as he serves a one-match suspension.
Mbong has nevertheless been included in the provisional squad and will be available for Malta’s subsequent commitments.
De Leo’s selection also includes experienced internationals such as Henry Bonello, Zach Muscat, Matthew Guillaumier and Teddy Teuma, alongside several younger players competing for places in the national team.
