Russia bombed Kyiv throughout the day yesterday as Russian airstrikes on Ukraine keep escalating and becoming more frequent. At least three people were killed in a Russian drone strike outside an office building on the west bank of the city, while seven others were wounded. Cars in a nearby parking area were also set on fire by the attack.
Russia has increasingly been using faster jet-powered drones against Kyiv, putting further pressure on Ukraine’s already stretched air defences. Ukrainian officials say these drones are harder to intercept than conventional Shahed drones and are increasingly being used in attacks against the capital.
Ukraine is meanwhile facing a large shortage of Patriot missile interceptors ahead of winter, while European governments are scrambling to find additional interceptors for Ukraine. The shortage is becoming increasingly critical as Russia steps up its missile and drone attacks ahead of another winter in which Ukraine’s energy infrastructure is expected to remain a major target.
