Deputy-Prime Minister breaks away from party line and acknowledges the fight for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia

Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg is positively surprising readers and the general public today after stating that Repubblika has the right to display its banners in Valletta and should be allowed this right.

This is extremely significant, even if you may think that we are celebrating small mercies — it is still very significant.

This is the first time ever that a top Labour Party official has broken from the party line and acknowledged and respected the fight for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia. He is taking a risk with regard to his own party members, who have been influenced by years of vile and hateful propaganda, by saying this.

Ian Borg is currently being touted and pushed as the next Prime Minister, succeeding Robert Abela.

That Ian Borg would break from the party line to say something minimally positive about the fight for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia is unprecedented and extremely significant.

Once again, we are celebrating small mercies, but this is the same political party whose members, supporters and propagandists produce vile and hateful garbage propaganda against Daphne Caruana Galizia every single day.

It is a promising and positive sign that Labour can change and that our fight is not meaningless.

Let’s see how this plays out, but this is a very encouraging sign.

Its logical. If both parties are promising the same thing the untested party will get an edge over the long established one over time To counter that the established party needs to differentiate itself somehow without changing it’s bare premise. In our case the current economy whether one agrees with it or not it’s feeding the masses. Since PN have stopped attacking PL on corruption and mistreatment of journalists they have left the field wide open and will be looking lame if they try to catch up
