Maltese-built Chaudron SVR 33 claims three honours at Centomiglia del Lario

Team Chaudron 99 enjoyed an impressive performance at the 77th edition of the Centomiglia del Lario on Lake Como, Italy, securing three major honours with the Maltese-built Chaudron SVR 33.

The team, led by pilot Aaron Ciantar and co-pilot Jurgen Barbara, finished second overall in the prestigious powerboat race, which attracted a fleet of more than 50 boats.

The Maltese-built craft also claimed first place in the Diporto Performance category and was named Best Monohull Overall, completing a successful outing for the team.

The achievements were particularly significant considering that technical difficulties prevented the Chaudron SVR 33 from reaching its maximum speed during the race.

Despite these setbacks, Ciantar and Barbara maintained a competitive pace throughout the event to secure three trophies against strong international opposition.

Ciantar expressed satisfaction with the results, highlighting the performance of both the crew and the Maltese-built boat.

“We had some technical problems on the day and couldn’t push the boat to its full potential, so to come away with second overall, the category win and Best Monohull is a very good result for the team and for a boat built in Malta,” Ciantar said.

The results represent another notable achievement for Team Chaudron 99 and underline the competitive capabilities of Maltese-built powerboats in international racing.

The team’s success on Lake Como also provided further recognition for Malta’s boatbuilding expertise, with the Chaudron SVR 33 demonstrating its potential despite the technical limitations encountered during the competition.
