Brian Cini made the first maximum break recorded in a snooker competition in Malta, compiling a 147 in the final frame of his 4–1 victory over Ivan Attard at the Snooker Academy in Ħamrun.
Cini had already made breaks of 70 and 86 in the CE Installations Premier League match, part of the National Snooker Championship. Leading 3–1, he potted all 15 reds with blacks before clearing the colours to win the fifth frame 147–0 and seal the match.
The maximum marks a milestone for the Malta Billiards & Snooker Association and for local competitive snooker.
