Shuffling shares with Kurt Buhagiar

Giovanni Scolaro, is the Italian business partner of Kurt Buhagiar who together have a phantom company called SC Real Estate Limited. Scolaro, however, has an active company based in Malta which is called SC Building Limited whose mother company is a furniture company in Spain called Scolaro Immobiliaria and was formed in 2019. SC Building in Malta seems to have been constituted in 2015 and since then the shareholding changed and shares changed hands.

Some of the shares that changed hands were with Kurt Buhagiar. In 2018, Kurt Buhagiar received up to a third of Giovanni Scolaro’s personal shareholding of the company only to hand it back in the following year. There’s also an interesting name that transferred shares of SC Building to Kurt Buhagiar, and this is Hector Camilleri who is the owner of Bitmac which owns an illegal concrete plant in Iklin. Kurt Buhagiar was also involved in collecting donations from construction contractors in Labour Party’s electoral campaign of 2017, while Bitmac seems to be receiving preferential government treatment.

These are things that make you go hmm…

UPDATED: Statement by Hector Camilleri.ย

Hector Camilleri sent me this statement to clarify his relationship with Bitmac and Kurt Buhagiar. Please read below.ย ย

I write to you regarding a blog which has recently been brought to my attention. The blog which you published by the title ย“Shuffling shares with Kurt Buhagiarย” dated 17th July 2023. You have erroneously stated that I am the owner of Bitmac Ltd. I am proud to say that I was a director and employed as the general manager of Bitmac since 1987, however, this all changed in March of 2018 when Bitmac was sold, and subsequently, all my connections with Bitmac were severed. I have no authority and or responsibilities at Bitmac and have no connection with any activity at Bitmac since March of 2018.

Regarding the transfer of SC building shares; I met Mr. Scolaro around 2015 when he came to Malta looking to do some construction work. He asked me if I could help him by introducing him to people with construction projects and setting up an agreement to purchase building materials from Bitmac. He subsequently offered me some ย“Bย” shares (free of charge) in his company which I accepted. I was never shown any accounts and did not receive any monies from any profit (if profit was made). Around 2018 he told me that a well-connected person (Kurt Buhagiar, who I knew nothing about) ย was interested in being a shareholder and asked me to transfer my shares. I did not ask for any remuneration, neither did he offer any, Scolaro brought me the paperwork to sign, which I did and that was the end of it.

Regards,

Hector Camilleri

    I think you meant SHUFFLING…..

  2. Scolaro Immobiliaria is a real estate company and not a furniture company and its registered address seems to be in a postbox address. Looks like another dodgy setup
