Yes, this is strange

Yes, it is strange that Minister for Finance, Clyde Caruana could purchase a sprawling half a million Euro worth of property with a salary of just €50,000 per year as chief executive of the Jobs+ Agency.

Even stranger is that this information is coming out only after Clyde Caruana came to blows with the Prime Minister himself.

Clyde Caruana prides himself on being the Minister for platitudes on financial austerity while his colleagues engage in rampant corruption and spending. Now, he should skip his platitudes and explain to the general public his very interesting wealth.

  1. Nothing strange. You need to add his salary to hers and they would probably qualify for a loan of ?353. The difference was probably a donation from one or both sets of parents. Happens all the time

    1. Probably, you’re right. Didn’t think of it that way. Still would be decent to have clarifications from the Minister.

Could be, but is it? Why the resistance by labour ministers to introduce the unexplained worth legislation?

No villa of that size and amenities is worth only half a million. A small apartment will cost you anything up to ?300,000 without the additional expenses of tax, notarial fees, lighting fixtures , kitchen and furniture. So it’s not only a question of financing but also of questioning the declarations to parliament and to the tax collector.
