Minister for Culture uses Whatsapp Message as proof of official confirmation

Minister for Culture Owen Bonnici is using a Whatsapp message by Olvin Vella, President of the Maltese Language Council, as evidence of the Council’s approval of Norma Saliba’s appointment. You can see the Minister’s court document here Norma Saliba’s job description is similar to that of the current CEO of the Language Council, Thomas Pace, who has been in his role for a number of years. Basically, most of the related entities and organisations have boycotted Norma Saliba’s appointment.

Owen Bonnici is proving very clearly that he has, and never had, any good faith in this affair given that official approvals are not made by Whatsapp messages but by official correspondence. On the other hand, the members of the Language Council have no credibility by allowing their fraudulent President to stay and represent the institution. Olvin Vella disrespected his colleagues, lied to them and to the general public, and made a complete mockery of the institution he was supposed to represent. The Language Council is a national institution and its head can’t be allowed to lie to the Council and the general public.

I feel rather dumb having to point out this stuff, but people seem to be losing their minds, lately.

  1. Indeed! Well said. One would think its so obvious. How can this man even look at his colleagues in their eye? Olvin Vella should have resigned immediately.
