Why do we have anti-fascism?

Andre Callus of Moviment Graffitti has written a very patronising and garbled explanation about his antisemitic celebration of Hamas as “decolonisers” and “freedom fighters” in the form of a pseudo-historical response – or, rather, a pseudo-intellectual explanation on why Hamas is justifiable, BDS is good, antisemitism is not antisemitism and the Jews in Israel are colonisers. The obvious conclusion to all of this is that the state of Israel should be abolished and the state of Israel abolished. This kind of patronising bullshit reminds me of Hannah Arendt and her very famous quote, “The essence of being an intellectual is to fabricate ideas about everything.”

The far left has a very cartoonish view of the outside world, similar to the far-right creeps who unironically converge a lot with the far left on many issues, including antisemitism. The fundamental principles behind the conflict between Israel and Palestine are very simple as with all universal principles and rule-of-law and there is no need to go back in history hundreds of years to conjure up stupid explanations as to why Hamas is a “decolonising” agent – it just isn’t, and in fact, Hamas’ impacts have resulted on the contrary. Hamas is the prime cause of why the Israeli far-right is so popular today.

Anti-fascism is not a cartoonish gimmick that is worn on a sleeve to represent a set of orthodox beliefs as evoked by a far-left cult. The fundamental rule-of-law principle behind anti-fascism is that we can’t undo past injustices by another even greater injustice. The idea that the Jews should leave Israel or abrogate their own state is simply antisemitic. The same principle applies to Nagorno-Karabakh. Displacing people is not the solution and that is also why the Israeli’s hard right, which has politically abetted and perpetuated the ongoing expropriation of Palestinian land in the West Bank is also wrong.

There isn’t a lot of intellectual posturing needed in this discussion, really. Undoing the Nabka would cause an even greater injustice, another humanitarian disaster apart from taking away from the Jews their only state and potentially perpetuating another genocide against them – however, that is what Hamas and the far-left believe in. That’s not decolonisation, that’s pure and outright genocide.

The Jews have always been considered unworthy of a state and a home, and the creation of Israel, although unjust to the Palestinians who were displaced at that time, had finally addressed a great injustice that had been going on for centuries that eventually, resulted in genocide. The Jews are even denied a voice by the far-left such as with the example of how Andre Callus, an anthropologist would like to explain to them what antisemitism is.

Weird and bizarre that I had to read this, because the last time I checked, although Israel has an Arabic minority which is also represented in parliament, it is predominantly a Jewish state.

Yet, this patronising attitude by the left in telling the victim what are its experiences and interests is common and it is also applied to how they view the Palestinians. The far-left thinks it is best for the Jews to dismantle their state and for the Palestinians to keep on fighting against Israel until it is dismantled, but this is also the view of Palestinian leaders who have fought Israel and remained intransigent with demands favouring conflicting statements instead of peace, consistently and for many years. At Camp David, Arafat kept insisting on the return of all Palestinians while Hamas consistently wanted genocidal war. Arafat’s family retired with hundreds of millions of Dollars stashed in Swiss, French, and Maltese bank accounts, and the top leadership of Hamas lives in Doha, Qatar. How sad and tragic it is that the far-left which supposedly acts as a fighter against corrupt and genocidal dictators embraces them for the sake of antisemitism. Maybe, just maybe, it is about time for the left to begin supporting the Palestinians to create and build their own state instead of pursuing genocidal and never-ending wars. Imagine how much better had the Palestinians been had they made good use of Bill Clinton’s billions of Dollars in aid to create their own state, to actually create a state instead of stashing them away in Swiss and Maltese bank accounts.

Israel is perpetuating great injustices against the Palestinians in the West Bank, but Israel no longer cares what the world thinks about it because for so long it has been accused of doing the wrong thing simply to defend itself. What’s so dangerous is that we tolerate antisemitism and the Israelis think that they would have to live with it. That’s not a solution for peace. Yet, this is why the far-left will speak strongly against Israel, but will remain silent on Russia. The far-left genuinely hates Jews and they show this antisemitism to the extent of boycotting Israeli artists.

There is no coincidence that the far left and the far right converge together on antisemitism. If you are in a major European city, you can also see the neo-Nazi punks marching with the Palestinians chanting genocidal slogans. Things are simpler than they seem to be.
