The team behind the worst Minister for Energy in Maltese political history

The Minister for Energy’s plans to pitch a leadership bid for the Labour Party are not going very well. As Minister for Energy, Miriam Dalli was essential to Robert Abela’s deal with Joseph Muscat to cover up for him by basically, allowing Electrogas to continue doing business with the government as if nothing had ever happened. The current shareholders of Electrogas are aware they own a toxic asset that could potentially be seized by the state, and in fact, they tried to unload their shares unsuccessfully having found no buyer. Yet, this was the only success for the Minister, and Miriam Dalli’s legacy as minister is marked with deaths due to the failure of the electric grid and a horrible gas purchase trade which is expected to burn up to ย€1 billion in public money. Now, she is planning to buy a turbine from Shanghai Electric while Enemalta is effectively bankrupt.

There has hardly been a Minister in local history with such a long history of catastrophic disasters in their name, apart from the overt cover-up of corruption with regard to Electrogas which makes her legacy even more jarring and negative in historical terms. Like Robert Abela, Miriam Dalli is a gross liability for the country, its citizens, and the Labour Party. This is the team that is backing her, canvasses and works for her at the Ministry for Energy. They are all Labour activists who supposedly are working in the most strategic and essential ministry of the government, but are, in reality, just canvassers working for Miriam Dalli’s political ambitions. These are the Labour opportunists who, by virtue of their political patronage, have been placed in an important ministry where they totally don’t belong, only to steer the country into even more disasters. And we have to pay for this gross spectacle of stupidity, corruption and unprincipled behaviour.

Head of Secretariat: Jeremy Dalli

An absolute void in any meaningful work experience whatsoever, but he heads the secretariat of the most important minister in the cabinet.

ย CEO and Consultant: Steve Ellul

Let’s be honest. Steve Ellul abandoned his shitty fund managing ย€44,000 per year job at Bank of Valletta for a lucrative six-digit-salaried government post.ย  Steve managed some of BOV’s underperforming funds and preferred to take a government job because the local finance industry is a poor affair of a couple of underperforming funds and the best local finance professionals work or live abroad. Steve settled for a job with Miriam Dalli instead of hard work and a self-made career. Undoubtedly, Dalli consulted with Steve Ellul before signing her horrible gas trades.
