A gentle reminder to the young people protesting at MCAST that Roberta Metsola is not responsible for the EU’s foreign policy

As of lately, Moviment Graffitti has been busy as ever protesting against Israel and most of this ideological activity is not motivated by the concern for Palestinian lives and is rather motivated by anti-semitism, leading to an unwitting rehabilitation of Nazism (more on this later).

Yesterday, a protest was held against European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola at MCAST. Quite bizarre to say the least given that Roberta Metsola does not dictate the EU’s foreign policy and only acts as its Parliament’s diplomat and representative. The European Parliament President’s visit to the Israeli state to show solidarity and support following a terroristic attack that killed up to 1200 people was appropriate and necessary. Hamas is a designated terrorist organisation and those who support it are doing more damage to the Palestinian cause than Israel can ever do by itself.

As for the European Union, the left’s accusations against it are banal, to say the least. The EU has been crucial in amassing pressure both on Israel and Egypt to re-open the Rafah crossing and coordinate humanitarian aid to Palestinians. The EU also gives up to ย€1 billion every year to the Palestinian Authority. How is this foreign policy conducive to genocide?

This is preposterous if not banal, especially when considering that the EU is an even bigger and stronger advocate for Palestine than many other Arab states.
