The EU announces it will increase aid to Gaza, after announcing €900 million aid to Jordan

Earlier this week, King Abdullah II of Jordan visited Brussels where he signed an agreement for €900 million of aid from the EU for Jordan part grants and part loans. Now, the EU has also announced it will significantly increase aid to Gaza whilst opening an air bridge with Gaza. Contrary to claims made by the previous Maltese Foreign Affairs Minister, Evarist Bartolo, the EU has been engaged with Egypt to pressure it to open the Rafah Crossing and enable more humanitarian aid to Gaza while the same talks are ongoing with Israel.

The EU can not be in a position to advocate for Palestinians during the war and to apply pressure on Israel to give up its occupation of the West Bank later on after the war without condemning Hamas and giving the right of Israel to defend itself against unbridled terror. The way that left-wingers, like Bartolo frame the conflict, is the opposite and the exact way to prevent any pace from being established. Hamas won’t leave on its own accord and they are being very transparent on their aims and politics. As foreign Affairs Minister, Evarist Bartolo was the same Minister who recklessly made security arrangements with Turkey as opposed to our allies and tried to move Malta further away from the West with his outlandish positions.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu’s ratings are plummeting and this is a very good thing for peace. I am afraid I have to be very simplistic and reductionist given the repetitive nonsense of the left-wing narrative. Peace between Israel and Palestine will take place when both sides have a secular leadership that has massive and resolute support from its population – this logical combination was nearly achieved at one point in time before Hamas sabotaged it.
