More than ten years after it had first started, the Arab Spring has finally arrived in Gaza. When Mohamed Bouazizi lighted himself on fire and ignited most of the Arab world in revolt, one of the very few places that was virtually unaffected by this revolutionary wave was Palestine. Now, after beating up a Hamas officer, Gazans are in the streets waving white flags and chanting the Arab Spring’s main slogan:
“Al-Shahab, jurid nisqat al-nizam.” – The people want the dictator down.
The protests are aimed against Hamas.
