Franco Debono wants to be PN party-leader, but can’t handle questions by journalists

Criminal lawyers shouldn’t be in politics, let alone party leaders. The Nationalist Party already has a serious problem with their spokesperson for internal affairs being a criminal lawyer with a million conflicts of interest. Joe Giglio was even Robert Abela’s best man at his wedding. Now, Franco Debono wants to be the PN party leader, yet he can’t even handle questions from a journalist.

After making his announcement, Christoph Schwaiger asked Franco Debono what he would do about corruption if he were the party leader and prime minister. He quickly replied that this attitude was preventing the PN from winning the elections and then proceeded to mock the journalist with a derisive comment. So, basically Franco Debono is telling us that the rule of law and corruption aren’t ongoing issues at all and he isn’t even willing to discuss them because apparently, according to his implications, the Maltese are inherently corrupt.

I can’t understand his logic in another manner, really. Franco Debono wants to be another Labour Party, hence a criminal organisation, but under a different party’s name. His delusions betray him though because his rhetoric is exactly the same as of Labour’s: let the institutions work when the institutions are compromised and blatantly corrupt. His attitude to journalists is also the same: hostile and toxic. What’s the difference than from a Labour politician, really?

It’s more of the same, but with a more charismatic and funny character, yet, politics isn’t meant to be funny but a very serious calling. Franco Debono’s vanity and self-interested opportunism can match Robert Abela’s, so he may as well join the Labour Party right away.

  3. One of the main reasons why the Nazzs ended up on the rocks is because they have always been a party run and dominated by lawyers and notaries. With a few exceptions lawyers are not capable of anything except drama, posturing and time wasting. And of course they are the conduit into the criminal underground. Labour is following suit and the signs are evident. As to Franco Debono assuming leadership of the Nazzs dysfunctional party I doubt it as he is at the height of his legal professional career. Unless of course he is being groomed by the local business and criminal cabal to take over just in case Metsola will not be in a position to take over the Nazz party. They have lost JM and RA is sliding ever deeper. The upcoming MEP elections are going to have a significant negative impact on RA and the labour champagne party.

  7. […] Franco Debono is currently making a push for PN Leader and many Nationalists are highly concerned about this prospect, and you can’t blame them. Franco Debono is one of Malta’s top criminal lawyers and he stands for nothing other than his personal ambitions. He is unprincipled and amoral and he is trying to send the message that the PN should drop its struggle for the rule of law in exchange for total tolerance to criminality and corruption, simply so that it could win the elections. This is irresponsible to the highest degree possible. Franco Debono, basically wants PN to turn into another Labour Party. […]
