Yesterday, ADPD leader Sandra Gauci made a very good point. Omar Farrugia, the Labour MP who is being given an iced bun as SportMalta Chairman, didn’t show up to a protest in Mqabba earlier this week against a proposed tarmac plant by a major Labour Party donor. Mqabba is Omar Farrugia’s constituency.
Omar would have been appointed SportsMalta chairman anyway even if he had attended the protest because the appointment would have been long in the works, but he opted not to attend. They are not opportunistic and unprincipled because they are desperate for money for food and shelter, it is unadulterated greed with long-term career prospects of corruption and rent-seeking.
