The President of the Chamber of Advocates Peter Fenech has refused to issue any details about the Chamber’s discussion about Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech. The Chamber doesn’t seem to have formed a public position.
Peter Fenech was very and insistently evasive when I called him last week. He asked me to write an email which I did, but of course, went unanswered because “write me an email” is most often just another way to say that you don’t want to speak. He did, however, acknowledge that the Chamber had discussed the Magistrate and that they are following my reports on the Magistrate, giving it away by pretending not to know who I am simply by saying “we know of the reports being written about her by some journalist”.
A lawyer who recently testified against Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech claimed there was a lot of “omerta” by lawyers that prevented them from speaking up about the Magistrate.
