Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has struck a significant record in history of probably perpetrating one of the biggest and most recent massacres of journalists in history. Up to 63 journalists have been killed by the IDF. There is also evidence that some of these journalists have been specifically targeted by the IDF because they were killed in locations that were not near any military target.
Deliberately targeting journalists in war is a war crime and the IDF seems to have done just that. There have been no statements by the IDF to explain these killings or their policy about pro-Palestinian journalists. I’ve looked into the profile of many of these journalists and many of them held Palestinian views, and many others were peace-loving people like Issam Abdallah who were in no way a threat to Israel or its society. Many of them were surely and definitely, not extremists.
I don’t have any hope that the current Israeli government will ever care about this. The policy seems to have been deliberate and intended by the IDF, so it will take a change of government in Israel to bring back some humanity and justice to their military’s actions. On the other hand, I do not doubt that the ICC prosecutor is also looking into these crimes.
