Rebekah Borg Cilia is the little-known Nationalist MP who was seen this week on the Labour Party’s propaganda television station, engaged in a friendly discussion about children and family with Rosianne Cutajar. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Party is planning to file a motion in Parliament demanding Rosianne Cutajar to refund her salary that she gained fraudulently while supposedly, she’s being arraigned in court over fraud and other charges.
Politics is not a game and neither should it be a means to further your popularity and contacts – those should come as by-products of your work. By attending a Labour Party propaganda show that is only meant to rehabilitate a member of Joseph Muscat’s criminal circle, the Opposition MP has done a disservice to her party and her constituents. I would imagine that other PN MPs are furious about this, but I haven’t asked them yet, because I’m sure I will be wasting my time with many denials at this stage. Had I been her colleague I would have called her for resignation or suspension from the Parliamentary group.
So it was not surprising to me to find out, upon conducting a search about her, that the PN MP in question, Rebekah Borg (Cilia) is being accused in court of lying to her stepfather about being his actual daughter to keep receiving money from him when she was an adult. Upon learning that she is not his actual daughter, Rebekah Cilia’s stepfather initiated a court case against her to recoup his money along with a garnishee order of ย25,000 which was reduced by the court to ย21,800. Court proceedings are still ongoing. MaltaToday had reported about the case and even published the story in their print version but strangely enough, they deleted the article from their website. I am reproducing a copy of their print article below. Maybe, this may have to do with the fact that she is a good friend of Robert Musumeci (the corrupt government consultant) who is also a good friend of Saviour Balzan (MaltaToday’s owner).
Ironically, Rebekah Borg Cilia was on the Labour Party’s programme discussing family matters.
Note: Apologies, Bernard Grech was actually the lawyer representing her father against her which makes it even more bizarre.
