Changing local plans to accommodate more destruction

Prime Minister Robert Abela has always stated that amending the local plans is legally impossible apart from being, in principle, an injustice in itself. This is fundamentally not true because commonly, European law and even Maltese constitutional law give the right for planning and developing decisions to the state and not the property owner. Furthermore, legally, there is a very different distinction between the right to own property and the right to develop.

In fact, Prime Minister Robert Abela will be amending the local plans so that a group of model airplane hobbyists can build a miniature airfield in a pristine valley. Wied ?nuber in the limits of Bir?ebbu?ia and ?al Far is a pristine valley that has many archaeological remains. The environment and our local heritage are being exchanged for the votes of a couple of men who want to fly their model airplanes.

These are not serious people.
