There are no official reports of Joseph Muscat’s visit to a meeting by China’s Imperial Springs International Forum, an event that hosts various Chinese-friendship societies, with Chinese state and Party officials and foreign politicians. However, we got to know thanks to Michelle Muscat who has been regularly documenting her foreign trips with her husband.
Joseph Muscat is very much appreciated by the Chinese after having sold them a stake in Enemalta, apart from formally making Malta part of the “Belt and Road” fantasy. The Chinese, like any other strong dictatorship, tend to support foreign politicians who have historically struck beneficial deals with them. Joseph Muscat is even more favoured by the Azerbaijani regime for making Socar part of the Electrogas project.
