The Mayor of Banana Town sends his greetings and promises more dough

Prime Minister Robert Abela gave his end-of-year message and it sounded more cringe than the last time I ever saw someone try to make an effort to look like he cared. He clearly shows he’s making an effort to put some work into those facial expressions and using them as if he is speaking to a child. It’s very typical of him because that’s how he actually views the people around him and the people he is supposed to govern: as state dependents waiting for the charity of Dear Leader.

Robert Abela promised that more subsidies are on the way, apart from appealing for peace in the world. He can’t keep the country united on anything as he runs the country like a criminal enterprise, but he supports “world peace”. Maybe he can start working on that at home by ensuring justice is made for Daphne Caruana Galizia and he actually makes peace with her family.

  7. I am not surprised by the patronizing and paternalistic tone. That has always been the staple attitude of the Maltese throughout the centuries: scratching their arses and picking their noses whilst waiting for their leaders to dole out handouts, gifts, crumbs and condescending speeches.

    What?s to be done?

    1. “What should be done” would take a very long essay.
