It is expected that a Labour Party propaganda rag would not list as one of the most important moments in Maltese politics of 2023, the resignation of a government MP from the government parliamentary group. NuxellinaLeaks, with more than 115,000 unique viewers was undoubtedly, one of the most-read stories in the Maltese press last year.
We used to be told that there weren’t any scandals to write about under Robert Abela’s premiership other than the scandals that took place under Joseph Muscat’s administration. Allow me to be of some help to the editors/propagandists who are busy working overtime concocting glossy presentations of the murky present. Last year was another year of scandals of all types and of all kinds that are currently ongoing which include a Prime Minister laundering money with his wife, a Prime Minister covering up for his drug dealer business partner, rampant abuse of public funds, more criminal cover-ups, and much more.
Above all, last year the Prime Minister fought off a public inquiry on the death of a worker in a construction site on government property developed by Labour Party associates in a criminal and corrupt operation. Robert Abela was booed as he left Castille for fighting tooth and nail to protect his criminal friends and refuse a public inquiry – and this was the most significant moment in Maltese politics in 2023.
It was the year that all masks fell off and all pretences that this is a normal government were gone.
