Michael Bonello has sent a reply to this website about today’s story of his trip to Sicily where he was traveling with the taxman, Marvin Gaerty. Michael Bonello claims that he had no connection with the taxman and that Marvin Gaerty was only in Sicily as part of a contingent of boxers who were competing in games. I’m always surprised by the strange happenings in our society, and here’s the full reply.

I am writing to request a right of reply to the blog post uploaded earlier today here: and another one uploaded yesterday here.
I trust that in the interest of providing your readers with the most up-to-date and factual information, you will publish this text in full, with the same prominence as these articles, and I would also suggest that a hyperlink to this correction is added on both posts, to avoid misleading future readers with inaccurate information.
As you yourself have written in today’s post, my arrest in Sicily in 2019 was an unfortunate case of mistaken identity, so thank you for clarifying that point with regard to yesterday’s post. In today’s post you assert that when that arrest took place, I was returning back to Malta with Mr Marvin Gaerty, who at the time was Malta’s tax Commissioner. I can confirm that this is true, but please allow me to explain the context of that trip for the benefit of your readers.
From October 2014 to March 2020, I was President of the Malta Boxing Association and this trip to Sicily was one of many in which we took numerous participants to international competitions. In that particular trip in 2019, we were a contingent of some 80 people including boxers and officials and Mr Gaerty was one of the competitors.
