Despite removing its biggest liability by replacing Joe Giglio in his Home Affairs portfolio, the PN Parliamentary group is still carrying some liabilities that are being reserved as token representations to appease, mainly, their constituents in the South.
One of these liabilities is the deadbeat Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici who PN has appointed as a “spokesperson for human rights”. Mifsud Bonnici was responsible for one of the biggest state-led persecutions of artists and censorship campaigns in our history. The problem is that he is not only a traditional conservative, there is nothing wrong with that – he’s a complete imbecile and completely useless as a politician. He also pretends he is an expert in Roman law (his reading and writing level of Roman Latin is of O level standard), but he teaches this subject to students at the University of Malta. He has no official qualifications in Roman law or Latin whatsoever. He has historically been treated with privilege primarily due to his father’s previous standing and position in politics and the PN: Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, who eventually became President.
The other liability who has been retained is Stephen Spiteri who had his Health portfolio taken away from him and handed over to Adrian Delia. Stephen Spiteri was found to have been falsifying medical certificates to his clients, but ever since, his constituents have been pressuring the Party to retain him in his position. He has now been demoted and is sharing a portfolio on social policy with Albert Butti?ie?.
