As of this week, the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and their proxies have launched attacks in Syria, Iraq, and as of lately even Pakistan. Yesterday, they assassinated the Kurdish businessman Peshraw Dizayee targeting him in his villa in the Kurdish capital city, Erbil. He was killed along with 4 of his family members. Apart from targeting him for seeking trade with Israel, Iran’s interest in killing such a figure, who invested heavily in Kurdish towns and cities, including their military groups that fought against ISIS, would be to weaken the Kurdish people and their capability for sovereignty.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister of the Kurdish Regional Government of Iraq, Masrourย Barzani met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Davos who condemned the attacks. The KRG is currently asking the US government for Patriot missiles to defend themselves against similar attacks in the future.
Yesterday, Iran also fired missiles at Panjgur, a town in Balochistan, Pakistan, mainly targeting Sunni militant groups.
