Seems like the Drug Squad weren’t involved in Yorgen Fenech’s case which raises some questions

A few weeks before Yorgen Fenech was arrested, he sent a message to one of his lovers, Catherine Halpin telling her that he had successfully ordered and received 40 grams of cocaine from the internet. Catherine Halpin was the Commercial Director of Electrogas and today serves the Gasan Group as CEO of The Quad Business Towers project.

Strangely, the police didn’t announce they found any drugs on Yorgen Fenech or in his offices which is rather strange, as he would have most probably been stupid enough to have left some drugs lying around, especially given the state he was in and the volume of drugs he used to consume. He doesn’t seem to have been investigated for importing drugs either.

The police have focused most of their efforts on Yorgen Fenech’s murder case and their work on this matter has been applauded by the family of the murder victim, Daphne Caruana Galizia. On the other hand, the police haven’t made significant efforts into the other crimes that Yorgen Fenech has committed, and at best, on the other charges, the police have taken him to court over money laundering in the gambling sector, prompted by a message to Ray Fenech when he was explicitly discussing this money laundering activity.

Yorgen Fenech is not being prosecuted for corruption, fraud, and money laundering about the Electrogas Project, 17 Black, and the wind farm project in Montenegro. Yorgen Fenech is a serial criminal, money-launderer, fraudster and organised criminal, yet the police are putting all their bets against him, on basically, one single case. This would not have been the case in any jurisdiction which takes crime seriously. Had Yorgen Fenech been in the US, he would have been charged with a list of charges so long that it would have been highly improbable for him to avoid a lifetime in prison. In Malta, Yorgen Fenech’s fate will be decided by one single jury in one single case. And he has the slight possibility of becoming a free man if a jury decides in his favour. So lacking are these investigations and efforts being made that Yorgen Fenech still has the capacity to buy out everyone from prison.

Yorgen Fenech needs to be treated as a sophisticated and serial criminal with multiple and coordinated investigations on him and all of his business, political, and financial activities.

  1. Stating the obvious of course, if the police were to invesigate him, other high level persons in government would be exposed.
