Another Syrian war criminal has been found guilty of war crimes

A Hague District Court has convicted Mustafa Addahoudi of war crimes with a 12-year prison sentence after he was arrested in Kerkrade, the Netherlands in May 2022. He is a Palestinian-Syrian and member of the pro-Assad Palestinian group in Syria, Liwa al Quds which was sponsored and trained by Russia and Iran.

Mustafa Addahoudi executed violent arrests of civilians in January 2013 whom he tortured while in custody, including other Syrian-Palestinian nationals. The Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) and the Nuhanovic Foundation played a central role in supporting this case and documenting victims’ testimonies.

This decision came after a French court ordered the arrest of Bashar Al-Assad over war crimes in Syria.
