The architect responsible for the collapsed structure in Gżira today, Colin Żammit of Maniera Group, is linked with the Labour Party and has been greasing it with extremely lucrative and nonsensical public contracts such as this one and this one. He has also been one of the top architects receiving who had his ODZ applications approved.
Note how these rent-seeking professionals don’t just grease it through the public purse, they also benefit greatly from the lawlessness and impunity in the planning and construction sectors. Jungle Rules also thanks to the government’s genius consultants who created this situation in the first place like Robert Musumeci and David Xuereb.
This incident came days after I published an article arguing that safety and construction authorities have been weakened even further after Jean Paul Sofia’s death.
