Fifth columnists are usually individuals who hold a very deep resentment for their own society, and they may not necessarily be motivated by political reasons. Inevitably, people in the West who hate the West and what it stands for may easily accept extreme ideas by the enemies of the West, whatever these may be. When ISIS dominated in Iraq and Syria, disenfranchised Muslim youth in the West began to join them. When the Soviet Union existed, we had a host of Communist Parties in Europe funded by the Soviet Union. In the 1930s, Britain had Oswald Mosley who hated Jews and loved Germany’s Nazi politics. One of his supporters, William Joyce, an American citizen, defected to Germany in 1940, and dedicated his last years to broadcasting German propaganda over the radio in the English language: he was known back in Britain as “Lord Haw Haw”.
If you watch Tucker Carlson’s broadcast promoting his interview with Putin, it is abundantly clear that he is not a journalist, but only a witting and willing agent of foreign dictators who are at war against his own country and the West. Tucker Carlson can go to Russia and interview Putin because he doesn’t ask him the right questions and he doesn’t tell the truth: if he would, he would be incarcerated like the actual American journalist who is currently in a Russian prison, Evan Gershkovich.
Tucker gives himself away as a snake oil salesman of anti-Western dictators by peddling the fake US Dollar collapse trope. All of the facts and evidence show that it is not true that US Dollar dominance is receding: on the contrary, it is increasing. The US Dollar collapse trope is one of the most favorite arguments for the Kremlin which desperately needs countries to buy its currency, currently rolling on the floor at crashing speed. What does Tucker Carlson really want? That the Russian Tsar is strengthened by having good relations with him, and supposedly this would save the Dollar and bring down gas prices? This is not how the world works and this is not what is going on in the world right now.
Ultimately, a journalist is supposed to publish facts, but what new facts do we get to know with Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin? Putin has been interviewed countless times by Western journalists and he still gets many requests. Putin chose to sit down for an interview with Carlson because he knew he could get a better reception in the West with Carlson’s audience.
What’s more worrying, however, is that today, the fifth columns in the West are becoming more mainstream, and Donald Trump, who has a long history of business with the Russians is leading this movement. The spiteful and wicked hearts within us like the types of Tucker Carlson find in Trump’s opportunistic and self-interested behaviour an ideal outlet for their vindictive dreams against their own society.
In memory of all the fifth columnists, I’m also attaching below a clip of one of the most clownish fifth column moments in history when George Galloway met the then, Iraq’s President and brutal dictator, Saddam Hussein.
