Robert Abela confirms that he bought his Xewkija properties with Lydia Abela’s bank account

Times of Malta has today, asked Prime Minister Robert Abela over the properties he purchased in Xewkija with undeclared capital. The journalist, Mark Laurence Zammit, refers to the report by the Shift but does not make reference to my investigation. Eventually, Robert Abela himself makes reference to my investigation by admitting, that he had actually bought the properties with Lydia Abela’s bank account.

Also, concerning Arnold Cassola’s report to the Commissioner for Public Standards- this is not an ethical issue. This is purely a criminal matter that should have been dealt with immediately when the illicit transactions were made. Bank of Valletta was supposed to have flagged these transactions to the FIAU and the relevant authorities with an STR, but they didn’t.

Robert Abela has an extensive history of laundering money through Lydia Abela’s bank account, especially money given to him by Christian Borg sourced from illegal drug sales, to have it laundered and legitimitsed.
