The press may want to ask Assistant Commissioner Fabian Fleri about Carmelo Abela’s involvement in the HSBC heist

Carmel Abela, a Labour MP and previous Minister was implicated in the HSBC heist by the Degiorgio brothers, the hitmen who killed Daphne Caruana Galizia. The Degiorgio brothers had claimed that Carmelo Abela, who back then worked at the HSBC Qormi centre had given the bank robbers information on how to pass through some security checks. Although Carmel Abela admitted that he was once interrogated by the police, nothing came out of the investigation.

The Police officer investigating Carmelo Abela on the HSBC case was in fact, Superintendent Fabian Fleri, who has now been promoted and assigned to the FCID. The press may want to ask him about Carmelo Abela’s case.
