Listen to the full interview (dubbed in English) with French President Macron on Russia and Ukraine

This is a very good interview with French President Emmanuel Macron where he explains in detail the current situation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and France’s position. The interview has been dubbed in English.

In the interview, Macron starts by explaining how Europe went to great efforts to negotiate a peace between Russia and Ukraine with the Minsk Agreements ever since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. It was Russia that walked out of negotiations and agreements and initiated a full-scale invasion. Russia was already in the wrong, and it simply escalated. Before 2014, Europe and the US were not only vying for peace, they even forced Ukraine to dismantle its arsenals and destroy ammunition in clear displays of Russian appeasement.

Macron raises the prospect that Russia can actually break through the Ukrainian lines of defence and drive significantly deeper into Ukraine. Yet again, Macron draws this potential event as a red line with the principle that Russia should not decide which nations in Europe get to exist or not.
