Once Rosianne Cutajar apologises, she will be admitting to wrongdoing which in her case, is of a criminal nature. I can hardly see her apologising without incriminating herself and this is why her only sensible option is to turn state witness against Joseph Muscat to help the authorities build their cases against him.
Turning state witness would not only be in her best interest, especially for her reputation, it would also be in the best interest of the Labour Party unless the Party wants to have the future prospect of dying like any other criminal organisation. With Rosianne Cutajar turning state witness, she will be the first to pave the way for the Labour Party to potentially redeem itself by providing a path to dissociate from Joseph Muscat.
Such a disassociation should have come from the Labour Party leader himself, and this was the plan all along with Chris Fearne until Robert Abela came to the scene. Surely, Robert Abela personally prefers an exit strategy from his own Devil’s Pact, now that he may be realising, that governing the country as a criminal enterprise is not the equivalent of a game. Rosianne Cutajar can only provide this exit strategy to Robert Abela if she turns state witness. On the other hand, Rosianne Cutajar can’t blame the leader for her predicament given that she took it on her own to lie and defend in court her corrupt actions via a libel case. Politicians in Malta still need to come to terms with the concept of “responsibility”.
