My informers have reported to me that Svetlana Muscat’s appointment as the prison’s Chief Operations Officer has been put on hold, and CEO Chris Siegersma has been called by a Ministry official to explain himself. Someone else may now be appointed as COO.
Meanwhile, the CEO, who walks around the prison complex with an entourage of muscled-security and police officers (often unnecessary since Malta’s prison is one of the least violent in the world), has been left furious with the publication of the story and is taking it out on prison officials and employees by issuing new transfers to their posts.
It’s all very strange how the Labour Party always gets to pick someone particularly eccentric as the head of Malta’s prison.
