Thank the heavens for small blessings. One of the reasons why Joseph Muscat won’t be contesting elections again with the Labour Party is not just about his imminent arrest and arraignment to court, and the problems this will bring to the Labour Party and Prime Minister Robert Abela himself, but also because by now, the issue has become a clash of egos.

Unfortunately, at this stage, I can not provide details, but there is a lot of interesting things to recount on the clash between Joseph Muscat and Robert Abela where Joseph Muscat was literally told off by the current incumbent. At this stage, Robert Abela has no interest in  keeping up his efforts to cover up for Joseph Muscat, but only to make sure to secure a good electoral result without him.

In a way this should have been predictable. You can’t expect a leader with delusions of grandeur to have his limelight stolen by his predecessor, whatever the circumstances are. For good or for worst, Robert Abela’s ego is too big to allow another leader in the room with him.
