Chun Wang, the South Korean national with a bitcoin mining operation in Russia that was granted a Maltese passport last year, has sent me a letter through his lawyer asking me to delete my article about him. His Maltese lawyer is called Daniel Attard (not the Daniel Attard featured in this website).
Despite his letter, Chun Wang has so far refused to answer whether he knows Wang Dongfeng.
I am reproducing the letter below.
I am writing to you on behalf of my client, Mr. Chun Wang, regarding an article published on your blog titled “Man running a bitcoin mining operation in Russia was given Maltese citizenship in 2023,” dated April 2, 2024 and attached to this e-mail.
We understand that your blog is committed to providing accurate and insightful content. However, we have concerns about the veracity of certain allegations made in this article. Specifically, the claim that Mr. Wang is involved in criminal activities and connections to a Russian spy network. These assertions are based on unsubstantiated and defamatory sources, including a baseless tweet found at https://x.com/baiyun91586947.
While it is true that Mr. Wang was granted Maltese citizenship, which he obtained through lawful channels, the other allegations against him are unfounded. As such, these claims not only harm Mr. Wang’s reputation but also potentially spread misinformation among your readers.
We respectfully request that you review the sources and content of your article. Considering the lack of any evidence supporting these serious accusations, we suggest removing the post or amending it to reflect the factual situation accurately.
