Last week, when the US helped Israel intercept up to 300 ballistic missiles fired at it by Iran, the US partly did so from its bases in Iraq using its Patriot missiles. The US is in the bizarre situation where it is using missile defense systems in a country not to defend its citizens but to defend a third-party. Not to mention that these same missile defense systems, were also targeted by Iran itself in the past.
Earlier this year, Kurds were victims to several missile attacks by Iran which also left several Kurdish citizens dead, including businessman Peshraw Dizayee. Meanwhile, the current Iraqi government, an Iranian proxy, is more concerned about the presence of the US military in Iraq than Iran’s impunity to murder Iraqi and Kurdish civilians at will.
