It takes a loser of epic proportions to keep defending a serial criminal and the most corrupt politician in our history just because he allowed you to retain a public post you never deserved. Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando also benefited from Joseph Muscat’s friendship with insider information that he used for his property deals, but I will be writing more about this story later on.
Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando was appointed Executive Chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi as a way to placate him for keeping him out of the cabinet. He’s a dentist who dabbles in property speculation and once cried a river for having been caught in a scheme to turn a green parcel of land into a night club. Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando never forgave Lawrence Gonzi for for leaving him out of the cabinet and switched sides to the Labour Party on the pretense that he wanted to introduce divorce legislation, mainly because he needed a divorce from his his ex-wife Marlene Farrugia, to marry his partner Carmen Ciantar. Joseph Muscat allowed him to keep his public post and today he still rakes in a public salary as Executive Chairman of the Skills Council. His story is well told on Daphne Caruana Galizia’s site.
Today, he is still at it, serving his original purpose as a lackey by defending his previous master and friend Joseph Muscat. I’m sure he hopes to keep having his public post extended as payment for his loyalty. However, his position as a head of public entity is untenable apart from being completely unfit for purposes. If you work for the state, your allegiances should be to the state and not to your corrupt friends.
Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando should resign in disgrace and the Ministry of Education should not tolerate his behaviour.
