Breaking: Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg sends a copy of the Magisterial Inquiry to Robert Abela

Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg has submitted a copy of the Magisterial Inquiry to Prime Minister Robert Abela. I don’t see a reason why the inquiry is being submitted to the Office of the Prime Minister instead of being published in public before arrests take place other than to give an advantage to the Prime Minister. Undoubtedly, information will now be shared with the propaganda elements in the media that are close to the Labour Party in an attempt to conduct some PR and damage control.

“Nobody ? except the inquiring magistrate ? is privy to all the information contained in the inquiry file. When the inquiry is concluded and the report (known as pr oc?s-verbal) is drawn up, it is sent to the Attorney General who keeps it under lock and key, unless it is exhibited in court proceedings or the Attorney General decides to release its contents, in full, in part, or in a redacted form, to whomsoever s/he deems fit.” There are no criteria written down in the law in terms of which the Attorney General decides to exercise his/her discretion even though judicial review of this decision is allowed by law (article 569B of the Code of Organization and Civil Procedure). These provisions have existed for donkey’s years

Seeing Muscat’s, together with Bob’s, reaction to the submission of the report to the AG, the latter could have spared the postage, as it seems obvious that they were informed of the contents!
After all, should the report indicate a complete exoneration, the two would look pretty stupid for their theatrics!
