The government has intentionally delayed the inquiry on the Vitals and Steward deals by refusing resources and administrative assistance to the Inquiring Magistrate Gabriella Vella. At a later stage of the investigation, the Magistrate requested resources and administrative help to process, compile and vet the inquiry, resources which were denied leaving the Magistrate by herself to do a lot of administrative tasks.
The government is currently protesting the inquiry’s price tag. The Magistrate used foreign experts to conduct the investigation due to lack of investigative personnel and experts available at the Police, a situation which has been created intentionally in order to prevent investigations on money-laundering and on political officials.
