Another serious conflict by Prosecutor Francesco Refalo

The lead prosecutor of the top-profile political criminal case in our history is a 31-year old previous employee of Refalo Advocates and also a relative of Ian Refalo, a trusted lawyer by Joseph Msucat. Francesco Refalo is being assisted in this case by two young graduates in their twenties who have just recently graduated.

There’s a very uneasy and subtle conflict of interest with Francesco Refalo prosecuting Joseph Muscat given his relative and previous legal firm he work for have been trusted by Joseph Muscat in the past. However, Francesco Refalo has also another alarming conflict of interest which is more blatant that will eventually come up during the case. Refalo Advocates are actually the lawyers of Ivan Vassallo of Technoline who is being arraigned in court as part of this case. Eventually, there may also be the glaring and visual anomaly of Francesco Refalo prosecuting against a suspected criminal being defended by the legal firm of Francesco Refalo’s own relatives.

It’s rather blatant and damning that Victoria Buttigieg is pushing her young prosecutor into this messy situation. Does she know for certain that Ian Refalo won’t be defending Ivan Vassallo in court? And how did she know that if this is the case? Did she ask her prosecutor to call his relative and confirm this?

Victoria Buttigieg is making a total mockery of this case and her supposed and consistent incompetence is building clearly into a case of dereliction of duty and criminal association.

Is it possible that the people of this island is left to fend on its own in a situation where the people are being shafted by literally a few dozen?

I hear people desperate to do something but nobody knows how. Factions are splintered. There needs to be leadership.
