Vitals shareholder and VGH Consultant Shaukat Ali took Labour Ministers and OPM staff to shopping sprees abroad

One of the masterminds behind the fraudulent sale of Malta’s public hospitals was Vitals shareholder, VGH Consultant and OPM consultant Shaukat Ali. He was entrusted with the responsibility of repairing and restoring Saint Luke’s Hospital, but instead stole at least €2 million worth of funds, with his daughters even receiving payments from Acutor, the same Vitals-linked company that paid Joseph Muscat.

Shaukat Ali bought a Maltese passport and has an extensive network of companies through his relatives. He has been reported to have spent the funds he stole on luxury cars, properties and tuition fees for his children through bank statements that confirm these purchases.

What hasn’t been reported in the press is that Shaukat Ali took Labour government Ministers and the OPM staff abroad on luxury shopping sprees to Zurich and Dubai. I have got to know this by previous Labour Ministers who had refused his advances and invitations for such trips, but they have also confirmed with me that he used to sponsor foreign trips to Keith Schembri’s staff for luxury shopping sprees.
