Earlier this week, the Labour-government propagandist Saviour Balzan delivered a propaganda show on the public broadcaster with Justice Minister Jonathan Attard and Adrian Delia. Literally, these are three corrupt men with shady pasts supposedly discussing between each other Malta’s most high-profile criminal case in its political history.
I find this to be a representative display of Malta’s decadence at the Public broadcaster which also represents Malta’s sorry state of affairs. A state funded display of a criminal Justice Minister that is protecting political criminals, an Opposition figure with a criminal past and history of conspiracies with Yorgen Fenech, and a Labour government propagandist conducting a Yorgen Fenech funded programme as he ingratiates with his hosts.
I’ve learned about journalism at a very young age when I used to read Daphne Caruana Galizia’s pieces every Thursday on the Malta Independent and also by watching lots of Rai3. Scroll down to understand what I mean as you relive the moments of Santaoro’s public display of defiance against Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi after a scathing discourse by Marco Travaglio – all of this on the Italian public broadcaster. At the end, Santoro refuses to shake Berlusconi’s hand.
The other video is when Berlusconi disrupted Santoro’s programme with a live call as he threatened him with his job and screamed “Santoro, you are a public dependent” to which Santoro replied with, “I am a public dependent and not your dependent”.
