MUT members still haven’t read the proposed conditions by the Ministry of Education as MUT keeps up its plan to swiftly approve the proposals

Following my story about the Malta Union of Teacher’s trying to swiftly pressure their members to accept the conditions handed to them by the Ministry of Education, MUT sent a reply which denied my story, and claimed that it is actually its members who want to swiftly conclude the agreement.

However, the MUT’s reply was not clear about whether they are following their own statute to make a final decision. The MUT has still not sent the proposals to its members, and the statute clearly states that decisions on its voting procedures should be taken in person and not online.

Following my story, some MUT members have come forward on their online private groups claiming that if they speak out they will face retribution.

Today, the MUT’s council will hold another meeting to once again verify their ongoing procedures to hold an online vote. This is the current proposed voting procedure which many MUT members are claiming goes against the statute.

There is also a Facebook Group by a number of teachers who are dissenting against the proposed procedures and are declaring this openly. MUT Council members are accusing me of trying to spoil their agreement, however this story is actually not about the proposed agreement. Very few so far know the contents of the proposed agreement. This story is about the fact that MUT is potentially forcing its members to swiftly conclude an agreement without allowing many of its members to voice their position and concerns.

I augur the MUT and its members to successfully strike an agreement in their favour. However, I will also keep publishing the concerns of many of its members which are only legitimate to say the least.
