The €2,000 allowance increase is only being given to teachers who have spent more than 20 years of service: young teachers are getting nothing

Given that the Malta Union of Teachers have refused to publish or even circulate the proposed agreement to its members there is some confusion on what is being proposed to them. Teachers are expected to vote on an agreement without even reading the original contract and they are basing their knowledge of it on a set of slides that the MUT has showed yesterday during the meeting.

It should be mentioned, given the press articles published today, that the €2,000 allowance increase is only being given to teachers who have spent more than 20 years of service. New and young teachers are basically getting nothing.

I don’t know what the intentions of teachers are, but I would feel like a total imbecile had I signed a contract just basing my knowledge of it on a set of slides, instead of actually reading it before signing. What MUT is doing is deeply offensive to their members.
